How to deposit a cheque online with your mobile device on TD app

Skip the line at a branch or ATM! Securely deposit a cheque online from anywhere with the TD app on your mobile device.

Note that you can only deposit cheques from Canadian financial institutions.

  1. CAD cheques will require a Canadian dollar account

  2. USD cheques will require a US dollar account

You must have at least one eligible Chequing, Savings or Line of Credit Account. A Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) or Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) are not eligible.

Here's a quick breakdown on how to deposit a cheque online using your mobile device on the TD app:

For more in-depth instructions, learn more below.

Step 1: Go to the Deposit page

From the TD app home screen, select the Deposit Cheque button at the top of the screen.

Your buttons may be in a different order than in the sample image.

If you're already registered for TD Mobile Deposit, skip to Step 3: Enter deposit information.

Step 2: Register for Mobile Deposit

Select the Register button at the bottom of the screen.

Scroll to read the TD Mobile Deposit Terms and Conditions and select the Accept button at the bottom of the screen.

You'll see a message confirming your successful registration.

Step 3: Enter deposit information

Select Deposit Cheque near the top of the screen.

Remember - you can only deposit cheques from Canadian financial institutions.

  • CAD cheques will require a Canadian dollar account
  • USD cheques will require a US dollar account

From the To Account dropdown, select the account you'll use to deposit the cheque.

In the Amount field, enter the dollar amount written on the cheque.

Use the optional Memo field below to add a personal message.

Step 4: Capture cheque images

In the Capture Cheque section, select the Front button to take a picture of the front of your cheque.

If this is your first time, review the Tips for best results and select the OK button.

You may be prompted to allow the TD app to access your camera.

Position the front of your cheque inside the white border on screen and hold your device still.

The app will automatically take a photo for you when the cheque is clear and positioned correctly.

If auto-capture fails, select the white shutter button to take a manual photo.

Write the following 3 things in pen on the back of your cheque:

  1. Your signature
  2. The words "For Deposit Only"
  3. Your account number

Now select the Back button and take a photo of the back of the cheque.

Position the back of your cheque inside the white border just as you did with the front photo, holding your device still.

If auto-capture fails, select the white shutter button to take a manual photo.

Step 5: Review and finish

Review your photos and deposit information.

To go back and change information, select the < (back) button at the top of the screen.

When you're ready, select the Finish Deposit button at the bottom of the screen.

You'll receive a confirmation number for your records.

From here, you can go to the TD app home screen, deposit another cheque or view your accounts.

You can also view your Mobile Deposit History, as outlined below.

Step 6: View deposit history

You can view every mobile cheque deposited in the last 30 days.

From the TD app home screen, select the Mobile Deposit History from the menu in the top left corner.

Your deposits are arranged by date.

To view mobile deposits made more than 30 days ago, go to Account Activity on EasyWeb.
