The TD ATM Safe Transaction Guarantee

ATM Security GuaranteeOur Canadian ATM Safe Transaction Guarantee means all TD ATMs will process your transactions safely and accurately. If an error is made, we will investigate and resolve promptly. If account losses occur resulting from any unauthorized TD ATM activity involving a TD Access Card or a TD Credit Card, you will receive 100% reimbursement of those account losses.

We've made a commitment to keeping your ATM transactions as safe as possible. Our safeguards to protect the security and integrity of customers' information during ATM transactions include:

Chip technology All TD Access Cards have an embedded microchip that stores information in a secure, encrypted format. This makes it virtually impossible for unauthorized users to copy or access the information on the card, when using chip-enabled ATMs.

Constant monitoring maintains the quality of our systems, proactively identifies unusual customer account activity and provides around-the-clock peace of mind.

Your Responsibility

You are required to maintain the care, control and confidentiality of your TD Access Card number and PIN as set out in our customer agreements1. The Toronto-Dominion Bank and its affiliates are not responsible for unauthorized access to accounts at a TD ATM or losses that occur as a result of you voluntarily disclosing your PIN, or the careless or improper handling, storing or disclosure by you of this information.

In the event of loss, theft, misuse or compromise of your TD Access Card, TD Credit Card, and/or PIN, TD Canada Trust must be notified immediately.

Understanding safeguards will help you play a vital role in protecting your security at a TD ATM. While we take strong measures to protect the security and privacy of your information, there are important steps that you should take to help protect your information:

Always protect your PIN

  • Memorize your PIN. Never keep a record of your PIN near your TD Access Card or Credit Card
  • Avoid choosing a PIN that might be easily guessed (such as your birthday, phone number or address)
  • Don’t tell anyone your PIN
  • When entering your PIN, take precautions to keep it from the view of others
  • If you have not otherwise changed the PIN that came with your TD Access Card or Credit Card, we recommend that you change this to a PIN of your own choice, that is at least four digits long

Lost or Stolen Card Service

If your TD Access Card is lost or stolen, call 1-866-222-3456 or go to your nearest TD Canada Trust branch to notify us immediately. A replacement card can be obtained quickly at any branch.

If your TD Credit Card is lost or stolen, call TD Credit Card at 1-800-983-8472, option 1 (collect (416) 307-7722) at your earliest convenience. The TD Credit Card department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Please be sure to check your TD account(s) on a regular basis to verify that you made the TD Access Card transactions that are shown. This can be done through statements you receive by mail or on EasyWeb.
