October 25, 2000 - TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Outstanding Community Leadership - Application Deadline Reminder

TORONTO - With the deadline for application submissions less than one week away, TD Canada Trust is issuing a reminder to students in their final year of high school to submit applications for the TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Outstanding Community Leadership no later than October 31, 2000.

The TD Canada Trust Scholarships for Outstanding Community Leadership are awarded to students in Canada who are in their final year of high school or final year of CEGEP (in Quebec). Valued at $1 million per year, it is the largest scholarship program of its kind in Canada. Each winner receives full tuition at any Canadian college or university, $3,500 a year towards living expenses, and a guaranteed offer of summer employment at TD Canada Trust, for up to four years. The TD Canada Trust Scholarships recognize outstanding community leadership as the key criterion for selection.

To obtain an application, students are encouraged to:

  • Visit a Canada Trust or TD Bank branch or their high school guidance office;
  • Call 1-800-308-8306 or send a fax requesting an application to (613) 563-9745;
  • Apply online at www.tdbank.ca/scholarship.

Completed applications must be returned and postmarked no later than October 31, 2000 to:

All applicants will be notified in writing by February 1, 2001 as to their status. Applicants selected as finalists will be notified by February 1, 2001 and interviewed by a selection panel in February. Scholarship recipients will be notified soon after.
