![]() ![]() TD Asset Management, formerly TD Investment Management, was formed in 1987 as a division of Toronto Dominion Securities Inc. when the Bank Act was changed to permit Canadian chartered banks to manage third party funds. In 1990, the institutional indexing group within TD Asset Management was formed, with a mandate to manage the assets of pension funds, endowments, foundations and corporations using indexed and other structured investment strategies. In January 1996, TD Asset Management incorporated and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bank. On July 28, 1996, TD acquired all of the assets and operations of AMI Partners Inc.'s Quantitative Capital, which had been managing Canadian equity index and enhanced index products since 1982. The Quantitative Capital division was combined with TD Asset Management's own indexing/quantitative division, forming the TD Quantitative Capital division. In December 1999, TD acquired all of the assets and operations of Greydanus, Boeckh & Associates, which specializes in quantitative bond investment management. This integration provides an opportunity to lever both organizations' expertise in quantitative investment management and technology. This will enhance our position as Canada's pre-eminent provider of quantitative asset management services. In February 2000, TD Bank and Canada Trust merged their operations. TDQC has already taken over the management of Canada Trust's indexed products, adding a total of about $2 billion to our assets under management. TD Quantitative Capital is Canada's leader in indexed and structured investment management, managing over $38 billion in assets under management. |
