Investment Strategy:
The Emerald Short Term Investment Fund is designed to earn interest
income and at the same time preserve capital and maintain a high degree of
liquidity. This is achieved by investing in money market instruments such
as Treasury Bills of Canadian Governments, Bankers' Acceptances and
commercial paper of Canadian corporations. Term is extended or reduced
according to our view of interest rates and the economy. Issues of the
Fund are of the highest quality, they must be rated AA or R-1 to be
purchased; and the credit quality is checked daily. Issues are
marked-to-market allowing the value of the Fund to fluctuate accordingly.
Investment Objective:
The Fund provides investors with investment returns that, before expenses,
correspond to the total return of money market instruments in Canada, as
represented by the Scotia Capital Markets 91 Day T-Bill Index.
Who should invest in the
fund?
This Fund is suitable for investors seeking:
- a short term fixed income investment to balance the risks of a
portfolio containing stocks and longer term bonds.
- the preservation of capital and liquidity.
