Low Cost, Hassle-Free Protection for Your Medical Needs
You and your family have many different medical needs – prescription drugs
for when your child is sick, eyeglasses for you or your spouse, and perhaps
a stay at your local hospital. With the TD Extended Health Plan, you and
your family members can be confident that your medical expenses can be
quickly and easily looked after. Our plan is designed so you don’t have long
and confusing claim forms to fill out – just show the Identification Card, and payments provided by the plan for prescription drugs, hospital rooms and vision care will be handled
automatically by the service provider.
Coverage Benefits
The TD Extended Health Plan benefits are provided by Green Shield Canada and
cover your expenses when you access a wide range of medical and health
services to recover from a sickness or injury. Prescription Drugs,
Semi-Private Hospital Room, Vision Care, paramedical services and home care
services cover medical and health services costs not covered by your
government health insurance plan (GHIP). The premiums may be used as a
tax-deductible expense.

Green Shield Canada (“Green Shield”), a federally
incorporated not-for-profit Canadian corporation, was founded in 1957 and
introduced prepaid prescription drug plans to North America. Green Shield
has over one million plan participants and is Canada’s leading group and
individual health and dental benefits administrator with over five million
claims processed each year.
Identification Card
Prescription Drugs:
Present your Identification Card with your prescription to any participating pharmacist in Canada. When your prescription is filled, you only pay the pharmacist the applicable deductible of $5. The pharmacist will collect the remaining balance owing directly from Green Shield.
Semi-Private Hospital Room:
Most hospitals will bill Green Shield directly provided the Identification Card is presented when admitted to the hospital.
Vision Care:
Most vision providers will bill Green Shield directly so you only have to pay any portion over the $150 coverage amount.
