Green Machine

Image of a Green MachineThe Green Machine is Changing for the Better

At TD, we have made a commitment to reduce our environmental impact by supporting renewable energy sources.

We are working with Bullfrog Power and the Pembina Institute to use Green Power for our Green Machine network. All of our Green Machines source power from clean, renewable energy sources such as wind power and low-impact water power.Bullfrog Power Logo

Going forward, we plan to continue to purchase enough renewable energy to keep meeting the electricity needs of all of our business operations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and we are committed to looking for ways to become even more energy efficient.

Choosing Green Power is a practical and meaningful way for individuals and organizations to reduce their environmental impact. Electricity generation is a leading industrial source of carbon dioxide, a primary greenhouse gas linked to climate change, as well as other emissions that contribute to poor air quality.

Like you, we care about the environment. This is just one of the ways that we’re doing our part to create a better environment for us and for future generations. By choosing clean, renewable power for our Green Machines, we will reduce our carbon footprint, help clean air quality and support the development of renewable energy.

What is Green Power?

Green Power is an environmentally friendly alternative to other sources of electricity generation in Canada. It is electricity taken from a renewable energy source such as wind or low impact hydro sources.

About Bullfrog Power

Bullfrog Power is a leading provider of 100% green electricity to homes and businesses in Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island with an easy way to go green and help create clean, renewable sources such as wind power and low-impact water power that displace polluting and carbon-intensive sources such as coal. In regions where Bullfrog Power is available, TD Green Machines are “bullfrogpowered.”

About The Pembina Institute

The Pembina Institute is a national, not-for-profit environmental organization dedicated to creating sustainable energy solutions. Bullfrog Power and the Pembina Institute have formed a unique partnership designed to jointly promote the benefits of renewable power. To “greenpower” Green Machines in regions where Bullfrog Power is not available (Manitoba, Newfoundland, Northwest Territories, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon Territories, Nunavut), the Pembina Institute will inject made-in-Alberta wind power onto the electricity grid.

We’re making a difference together

Green Power is just one of the ways we’re working to enhance the environment. Here are two other examples:

TD is carbon neutral – On February 18, 2010, we announced that our operations in Canada, the U.S. and our international locations – our entire footprint – are completely carbon neutral.

TD Friends of the Environment Foundation – This year marks the 20th anniversary of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF). TD FEF has provided more than $53 million in support to more than 19,000 grassroots environmental projects in communities like yours. For more information on how you can make a positive difference for the environment in your community and subscribe to the TD FEF e-newsletter, visit the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation website.
