Wire Transfers

Wire transfers are available in 25 foreign currencies, including U.S. Dollars. They let you transfer money directly into a foreign bank account from any TD Canada Trust branch in Canada. You can pay by cash, cheque or directly from your TD Canada Trust personal or small business account.

All you need is:

  • The full name and address, including city, province/state and country, and account number of the person you are sending money to;
  • The full name and address, including city, province/state and country, of the financial institution receiving the funds;
  • The amount and currency of the transfer.

Transfers happen quickly and securely. Depending on the currency you are sending, some transactions may take longer than others. Visit a TD Canada Trust branch and ask for details on timing.

Foreign Currency Cash

We’ll convert your foreign currency cash into Canadian cash at competitive rates and deposit the money directly into your TD Canada Trust account.

Whether you are visiting friends and relatives back home or planning a vacation, taking local currency is a hassle-free way to pay for incidentals and unexpected expenses. Your TD Canada Trust branch keeps a supply of U.S. currency. Over 40 currencies can be ordered online, in-branch or by phone. Simply place your order, and then pick up your currency at the TD Canada Trust branch of your choice within three to five business days.

Bank drafts are known by many names. You may also hear them called money orders in Canada or cashier’s cheques in the U.S. They are a safe and convenient way to send money abroad or pay for things like foreign magazine subscriptions and items purchased online.
