Why is there a charge of $15.00 for partial details?
If only partial details are provided for a stop payment request on a cheque, a $15.00 fee is applied as a result of the additional verification required to ensure that the payment is stopped.

The Stop Payment fee will be automatically charged to the account on which the stop request was made. In the case of a Line of Credit account, the fee will be subject to all applicable interest charges.

(Note: We are not responsible if your request cannot be processed because the payment has been made or you provided incomplete or incorrect information.)

How will I know if the payment has been stopped successfully?
All items presented on your account will be paid before verification is made to check that there are no stop payments lodged against the payment. If a stop payment has been lodged against an item, you will see a debit for the amount of the payment and then a credit for the same amount within 24 - 48 business hours.
