What are Java and JavaScript and why do I need to ensure JavaScript and Java are enabled within my Netscape or Microsoft browser?
Java is a high level programming language, while JavaScript is a scripting language developed independently from Java and used by web authors to design interactive sites. EasyWeb uses Java and JavaScript; therefore, both must be enabled within your browser. If Java and JavaScript are not enabled, you may experience problems with logging in to EasyWeb.
To enable Java and JavaScript (Windows Platform):
Netscape Communicator 7.x:
- Select "Edit" from the browser Menu bar.
- Select "Preferences".
- Click "Advanced".
- Verify that "Enable Java" is selected.
- Click the arrow beside "Advanced" and select "Scripts & Plugins".
- Verify that "Enable JavaScript for Netscape" is selected.
- Select the "OK" button.
Netscape Communicator 4.x:
- Select "Edit" from the browser Menu bar.
- Select "Preferences".
- Double click on "Advanced".
- Verify that "Enable Java" and "Enable JavaScript" are selected.
- Select the "OK" button.
Internet Explorer 6.x, 5.x:
- Select "Tools" from the browser Menu bar.
- Select "Internet Options".
- Select "Security" tab.
- Locate "Custom Level".
- Locate "Scripting" and verify that "Active Scripting" is enabled.
- Locate "Scripting of Java applets" and verify that "Disable" is not selected.
- Select the "OK" button on the "Security" window.
- Select the "OK" button on the "Internet Options" window.
Internet Explorer 4.x:
- Select "View" from the browser Menu bar.
- Select "Internet Options".
- Select "Security" tab.
- Select "Custom (for expert users)" security level and select the "Settings" button.
- Locate "Scripting" and verify that "Active Scripting" is enabled.
- Locate "Java" then "Java permissions" and verify that "Disable Java" is not selected.
- Select the "OK" button on the "Security" window.
- Select the "OK" button on the "Internet Options" window.
