Overview
TD Canada Trust's online personal credit application offers Canadian
citizens or landed immigrants residing in Canada, the opportunity to apply
for personal credit products.
It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete the application depending
on which product you are applying for.
We recommend that you print a copy of your application before submitting
it to TD Canada Trust. If at anytime you need to speak to someone about your
application call us at 1-800-247-2265.
Who Can Apply
To apply online for TD Canada Trust Credit products, you must:
- Be a Canadian resident.
- Be of the age of majority in your province of residence.
- Reside at the same address for the next 30 days (if you are applying
for unsecured line of credit, student line of credit, or loans.)
- Hold a TD Canada Trust account or an active chequing account with another
Financial Institution. Joint applicants need an account in both names.
Due to Quebec legislation, applications from Quebec residents cannot be accepted
online or over the phone. Please visit any branch to apply.
Information You Will Need
We suggest that you have the following information and/or documents readily
available to assist with this process. If you are applying with a co-borrower,
you will need to have the co-borrower with you when you complete the application:
- Social Insurance Number
- Current address
- Previous address (if current address is less than 3 years)
- Current employment information (e.g. employer's address, telephone number).
- Previous employment information (if current employment is less than 3
years)
- Sources of verifiable income (e.g. pay stub, employment letter, bank
statement confirming direct deposit, investment statement). If self-employed,
the last 2 years Notice of Assessments from your Income Tax return
- Value of properties, automobiles, investments, and savings
- Most recent mortgage/loan statements
- Most recent credit card statements
- Estimated value of your home
- Housing expenses (e.g. Property tax, annual condo fee, heating costs)
- Financial information for your co-borrower if applicable
Getting Started / Product Selection
Use this section to tell us a little about yourself and to select a product
to begin completing an online credit application.

What happens after I submit my application online?
To apply for credit online, you will be required to provide your email address.
This will enable us to provide you with a decision on your application via
email within 2 business days.
If additional information is required (e.g., we need to verify income and/or
employment information), the application may take up to 7 business days to
process.
Note:
- Mortgage or Mortgage Preapproval:
Your request for mortgage or mortgage pre-approval will be forwarded to
a Mobile Mortgage Specialist. You will contacted by a representative within
2 business days.
- Home Equity Line of Credit:
Applications for a Home Equity Line of Credit require
that you own and live in the property being used as security,
and have a minimum 25% equity in your property.
Should you proceed with an application for a Home Equity Line of Credit,
an appraisal will usually be performed to determine the value of your home
and an appraisal fee will be charged. Also, set up/legal fees will apply to
register the mortgage used as security for the Home Equity Line of Credit.

Note: This information is necessary if your current employment
is less than 36 months.
Income
- Monthly Gross Income (before taxes) information from employment and/or
other sources (e.g. investment, pension income, etc.).
- Co-borrower’s Monthly Gross Income (if applicable).
Co-borrower for Student Line of Credit
If you are applying for a Student Line of Credit and have minimal or no income
or are under the age of majority in your province of residence, a co-borrower
will be required. Application can be processed online with the co-borrower
being a spouse, parent or grandparent. Applications with other co-borrowers
should be completed at the branch.
Co-borrower
In situations where your assets and liabilities are owned or owed jointly
with another individual (e.g. Spouse), it may be necessary to have both parties
apply for the credit. You may choose to complete information about the joint
applicant in this application or we may request it later if we cannot approve
the credit request in your name alone. If you are applying with a co-borrower,
you will need to have the co-borrower with you when you complete the application.
Note:
- Mortgage, Mortgage Pre-Approval or Home Equity Lines of Credit:
If you are applying for a mortgage or providing mortgage security for a
loan or line of credit, any co-owner of the property must be included as
a co-borrower/co-applicant and also sign the loan agreement. Joint applicant
is defined as your spouse. If the co-owner(s) of the property is not your
spouse, please indicate this in the Additional Information section and continue
with the application in your name alone.
In order to process your Joint application, we need to verify the information
given to us concerning any Co-Borrower. We need the permission of any Co-Borrower
in order to do things such as obtain a credit bureau report, use their social
insurance number, verify their income and other matters relating to the application.
In return for considering your application, you warrant to us that you have
obtained agreement from the Co-Borrower to all matters set out in the consent
section above. Your pressing the "I AGREE" button to the agreement
provided in this application will constitute both your written agreement to
the terms and conditions section as well as the written agreement of the Co-Borrower.
Failure to obtain the consent of the Co-Borrower may result in your application
being declined. You also understand that by pressing the "I AGREE"
button or your use or retention of the credit product shall evidence receipt
of the agreements relating to it, and the acceptance of all their respective
terms and conditions.
You will be required to complete the following information if you are applying
for a joint application with another individual (i.e. spouse/partner):
- Co-borrower Information.
- Co-borrower Employment Information.
- Monthly Gross Income (before taxes) information from employment and/or
other sources (e.g. investment, pension income, etc.). If you do not have
an income, ensure you check off the box: 'Click here if you have no income'.
- Previous Employer information.
Note: This information is necessary if your current employment
is less than 36 months.
Assets
Use this section to tell us about your assets (Include co-borrower’s
assets if applicable): such as:
- Properties you own (e.g. address, type - residence, cottage, rental property;
current value)
- Vehicles you own (e.g. make, model, year, current value)
Note: Only cars and trucks that you own are included in
this section. If you have more than two vehicles, include them in the Other
Assets section. Show any leased vehicle information on the Liabilities page
in the Installment Loans and Other section.
- Your RRSPs and Investments
- Your Savings and Chequing Accounts
Note: At minimum we require details of your current bank
account(s) even if they do not have a positive balance.
- Your Other Assets
Note: In the Description field include information such
as if the asset is jointly held, the maturity date of an investment, name
of the financial institution where the asset is held.
Liabilities
Use this section to tell us about your liabilities (Include co-borrower’s
liabilities if applicable) such as:
- Your Mortgage (e.g. including mortgages payment, property taxes, heating
costs, condo fees – if applicable)
- Your Rent (e.g. landlord’s name and phone number, monthly payment)
- Your Vehicle Loans and Leases (e.g. financial institution, amount owed,
monthly payment)
- Your Other Loans, Secured or Unsecured Lines of Credit (e.g. financial
institution, amount owed, monthly payment)
- Your Credit Cards (e.g. financial institution, account number, amount
owed, monthly payment)
- Your Other Liabilities
- Co-signed or Guaranteed Loan, Line of Credit, or Mortgage

have no outstanding debts.

Student Line of Credit Needs
Student applicants will be required to provide the following information:
- Credit Amount
- School Information (e.g. University/College/Institution)
- Student Status (e.g. Full-time/Part-time)
- Program/Degree/Diploma
- School Term
- Graduation Date
- Student Identification Number
- Proof of Enrollment (e.g. Tuition fees paid OR a copy of a valid student
identification card OR an acceptance letter.)
Note:
If you are applying for a Student Line of Credit and have minimal or no income
or are under the age of majority in your province of residence, a co-borrower
will be required.
Applications can be processed with a joint application from a spouse, parents
or grandparents. Other co-borrowers can not be accepted at this time and
should be referred to the branch.
Maximum Credit Limit for Student Line of Credit
The TD Canada Trust Student Line of Credit helps students cover the costs of tuition, books, living expenses, computers, etc. while studying at a university or community college.
Designed with students in mind.
- Full-time students can borrow up to $8,000 a year for four years to a maximum of $32,000, and part-time students are eligible for half that amount.
- Graduate students can qualify for an additional two years of funding to a maximum of $48,000.
- If you are a Graduate Professional Student you've come to the right place. TD Canada Trust offers additional and special pricing.
- Students may qualify for additional funding in special programs such as:
- Interest rates are set monthly.
- Unlike a loan, you pay interest each month only on what you use and as you pay off the principal it becomes available again (no need to re-apply).
- After finishing or leaving school, TD Canada Trust Student Line of Credit offers a 12-month grace period, during which you pay interest only.
- After the grace period, pay the greater of $50 or 1% of the outstanding monthly balance.
Each month, the TD Canada Trust Student Line of Credit is accessible in conjunction with
TD Canada Trust Value Plus Account (a 50% discount for students) — withdraw funds at
Green Machine ABMs, in-branch or with no-charge Student Line cheques.
Graduate Professional Student Line of Credit
Students in the following Professional Programs are eligible to apply for higher credit:
- Medical
- Dental
- Veterinary
- Chiropractic
- Optometry
- Pharmacy
- MBA Programs
- Law
If you are in school pursuing one of the professional degrees listed above, TD Canada Trust
offer you a special opportunity. You are eligible to apply for a greater amount of credit than
other students.
- If you are a Medical or Dental Student, you are eligible to apply for up to $150,000 in financing over the duration of your program.
- MBA, Law, Pharmacy, Optometry and Veterinary students are eligible to apply for up to $80,000, and Chiropractic students for up to $62,000 over the duration of your program.

Loan Needs
Use this section to tell us about your Personal Term Loan needs:
- Credit Amount (e.g. minimum $2,000, maximum $50,000)
- Rate Option (e.g. fixed rate/variable rate)
- Repayment Option (e.g. 12, 24, 36, 48, or 60 mos,)
- Purpose for Loan (e.g. auto, home renovation, investments, etc.)
Note: If the purpose of the loan is to purchase a new or used car,
you must provide the total Estimated Value of the vehicles being purchased.

Any comments and/or information that should be considered by TD Canada Trust
when adjudicating your credit application.
Note: additional assets or liabilities information can be
entered into this section.
Agreement
The purpose of this page is to:
- Authorize the Bank:
- to obtain personal and credit information about you
- to disclose personal and credit information about you to other lenders,
credit bureau or other credit reporting agencies.
- Explain - how TD Canada Trust uses your personal information
in accordance with the Bank's Privacy code.
